Attendance
at Fazakerly Primary School
At Fazakerley Primary School we work hard to ensure that our pupils attend school and are here on time.
For every day your son/daughter is in school they receive a DOJO point. On top of this, they will receive an extra FIVE DOJO points for having 100% attendance for the week! So in total your child can earn TEN DOJO points every week just for being in school 100% of the time.
Every week we celebrate attendance and have daily discussions about the importance of attendance!
REMEMBER….. Gates onto the playground open at 8.40am. We ask that your son/daughter is on the playground before 8.50am. Doors to school open from 8.50am, ready for school to start at 8.55am.
Breakfast Club is open to all children who attend Fazakerley Primary, doors open at 7.45am.
Every day counts!
You MUST contact school as soon as possible. You can either leave a message on our pupil absence answerphone or speak to Ms Kasinos, our attendance officer. You may receive a telephone call and/or a home visit if your son/daughter is absent.
On their first day back at school you MUST send a note in to explain their absence, even if you have left a message or spoken to the school office.
What should I do if my child is sick?
What we will do when a pupil is absent?
We will contact you by telephone and/or text message. We may do this more than once if you do not answer. We may also contact additional emergency contact numbers held on your son/daughters record.
We may carry out a home visit.
We will ask you to provide a note on your child’s first day back at school giving reason for their absence.
We may ask for proof of their illness if they have been off for a long period.
We may ask you to speak with a member of our Attendance Team if your child’s attendance is causing concern.
We may invite you to a meeting with our Senior Leadership Team if your child’s attendance is causing concern.
It is the decision of the school as to whether an absence is authorised or not, regardless of whether you contact school, informing the reason for absence, or complete an absence request form. This is recorded on your son/daughter’s Attendance Record.
Please refer to our Attendance Policy on the ‘Policies’ tab on the main page of our website.
As a parent/carer you are legally responsible for making sure that your child attends school. If your child fails to attend school without acceptable reason you risk receiving a penalty notice or being prosecuted.
Arranging appointments and outings after school hours, at weekends or during school holidays will help to prevent disruption to your child’s education and to the school. You should not expect the school to agree to your child going on holiday during term time and if you do take them out of school this too may result in a penalty notice.
If you are having difficulty in getting your child to school or think there may be a reason why your child does not want to go to school, you should always speak to your child’s class teacher for help and support.
